“From Fabric to Future : COHORT III - Sewing for empowerment”.
In 2025, teenage young mothers in Gatsibo District continue to face a complex set of interconnected challenges. These include early pregnancies, school dropouts, gender-based violence (GBV), limited access to health services, stigma, and economic hardship. Together, these issues contribute to long-term vulnerability, social exclusion, and persistent poverty.
To break this cycle, urgent and coordinated interventions are needed, with a focus on:
Sexual and reproductive health education.
School reintegration and vocational training.
Psychosocial support and GBV protection services.
Economic and social empowerment of young mothers.
ODECH plays a vital role in addressing these challenges—working to empower young mothers in Muhura Sector, Gatsibo District to rebuild their lives, reclaim their potential, and become active, resilient contributors to their communities.
